In the entrance hall direct beams from ceiling downlighters emphasise the red floors and dark red walls using a warm light colour. Different light scenarios are designed for different functions: lectures, concerts and sports competitions. During events the German School Peking frequently uses the entrance hall in conjunction with the sports hall. Beams in the embrasures of the skylights imitate the effects of daylight and make the light cupolas shine on the exterior. The reading garden above is comfortably lit at dusk. In the class rooms pendant luminaries with direct-indirect light distribution create a pleasant, even illumination.
