Opening Luxembourg Pavilion EXPO 2020 Dubai

On October 1, 2021, the Luxembourg Pavilion opened in Dubai for the next 6 months as part of EXPO 2020.
Themed “Resourceful Luxembourg”, the pavilion demonstrates the efforts of continuous reinvention, circularity and versatility, giving a comprehensive overview of the country in the 5 areas of scenography: diverse, connecting, sustainable, enterprising and beautiful.
The building envelope of the Luxembourg Pavilion represents a white Moebius strip. The shape embodies an image of infinity and regeneration. It reflects the history of Luxembourg, its future and present.

To support the symbolism, in collaboration with architects Metaform, we planned the facade lighting, a strip of warm/bright light that travels along the surface at a slow pace, tracing the shape of the Möbius strip.
The gentle movement echoes the interior lighting, setting accents and guiding visitors through the pavilion.
