Finissage: Hidden Potentials in the City Centre
Since June 2025, the Raum zum Stadtfinden (Rathausstraße 7) has been showcasing a wide range of ideas and implementations from the pilot projects that are part of the Verborgene Potenziale – Hidden Potentials-, including the results of our lighting workshop “Light Atmosphere in the City Centre at Night” or in German “Lichtatmosphäre in der abendlichen Innenstadt”.
The finissage for Verborgene Potenziale took place on Thursday, 16 October at 6 pm.
With our project, we aimed to sharpen the awareness of light and its effects, showing how light can make Hamburg’s city centre more beautiful and lively in the evening.
In the workshop, we used the illuminated acrylic seating areas at Hammaburg-Platz as light sources to experiment and create designs without altering the lighting technology. Evening light observations formed the foundation for designs for light sculptures on the theme “Layers of History – Beneath the Surface”, referencing the historical significance of the square as the city’s founding location and its proximity to water.
