Light Concept for the Arkan Theatre, Cairo

The Arkan Theatre is located across two underground levels beneath a modern urban landscape.

Pyramid-shaped luminaires made of dichroic glass are a defining feature of the auditorium. Depending on the viewing angle, they shimmer in different colours.

Their blue and gold tones evoke the luminous colours of ancient Egyptian artefacts. The luminaires were specially designed and produced for the theatre in four different sizes.

Pyramid-shaped luminaires are also integrated into the walls. Positioned at a lower level, they create points of light that add warmth and intimacy while maintaining a focused atmosphere.

All luminaires can be controlled via DMX or DALI, allowing different lighting scenarios to be created.

In the studio areas on the second basement level, bright task lighting creates a pleasant working environment despite the lack of daylight. Indirect ceiling lighting makes the spaces feel more generous and creates a welcoming atmosphere.
